Common Questions
Is Adult BJJ at Rival good for complete beginners?
Yes, most of our adult students started with zero martial arts experience. Classes have a structured curriculum, partnered drilling, and live training is always optional, so beginners are never thrown into the deep end.
How long does it take to get a blue belt in BJJ?
On average it takes 1.5 to 3 years of consistent training to earn a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, depending on training frequency. At Rival, promotions are based on technical understanding, not just time spent on the mats.
Will I get hurt training BJJ?
BJJ is one of the safer combat sports because there's no striking, but soreness and minor bumps are normal as your body adapts. Rival emphasizes controlled, technique-first training and a respectful culture that keeps long-term injury risk low.
